SWEDISH MASSAGE

Swedish Massage

If we compare the different types of massages, we would discover that the Swedish massages are among the most unique massage types. One very important distinction between this massage and the others is the following of a certain order in the former. Typically, you’d have to perform the steps that are given below for a Swedish massage:

  1. Effleurage is the movement that you might see in most massages. It involves the application of hands along the body in the form of long and gliding strokes. When the massage therapist rubs your muscles using this technique, the levels of tension and stress are reduced. Effleurage also helps increase the rate of blood circulation to the heart and is ideal to relax the neck, upper back, and shoulders.

  2. Petrissage might seem like a massage therapist is kneading dough. Its purpose is to smooth out all kinds of muscular lumps or impurities through kneading and stroking. As a result, the liberated muscles can work with efficiency.

  3. Tapotement can be done in the form of gentle pounding/drumming of the body. Depending on the formation of the hands used to do this drumming, a massage therapist may produce a different “sound”. Since it is noisy, it will help you wake up at the end of a massage session.

  4. Vibration massage is a rapid rhythmic shaking of the body. It is effective if you want to help your neck and shoulder relax. Whether performed manually or with the help of devices, it will help you feel good and relaxed.

  5. Friction massage is done with the help of perpendicular or circular motions through which a massage therapist will work on your muscle fibers.

Swedish body massages are so amazing because they heal and relax your soft body tissue at the same time. They are performed in a gentle and rhythmic manner where the therapist will ensure that their touch is light. Consequently, you leave with stiffened joints loosened, reduced muscle tension, and free of congestion. Depending on your preference, this massage can be faster and activating or slow and gentle.
